Nebraska men's basketball coach Tim Miles said after Tuesday's practice that senior forward Shavon Shields, who suffered a concussion on Saturday, won't play in the Huskers' game Wednesday at Wisconsin.
Miles said freshman Jack McVeigh will start is place of Shields. It will be the first start of McVeigh's career.
Shields has been at his Lincoln home resting and recovering. He will not travel with the team.
Miles said Shields is day to day and that nobody knows when he will return. Asked if there's a chance Shields won't return, Miles said, "I don't know."
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound Shields suffered a serious fall in Nebraska’s 87-63 victory against Rutgers in Lincoln that sent him to a hospital.
