Shields, Huskers roll past Rutgers

INDIANAPOLIS – Shavon Shields scored 20 points to lead five Huskers in double-figure scoring, and No. 11 seed Nebraska ended a five-game losing streak with an 89-72 victory over No. 14 seed Rutgers in a Wednesday play-in game of the Big Ten Tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Nebraska (15-17, 6-12 Big Ten Conference) will play No. 6 seed Wisconsin (20-11, 12-6) on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Nebraska defeated Rutgers for the third time this season. The Huskers won 90-56 in East Piscataway, New Jersey, on Jan. 9 and 87-64 in Lincoln on Feb. 6.

Nebraska controlled the third game thanks to a 17-2 run that broke a 43-43 tie with 16:54 remaining.
