Lincoln - Jessica Shepard set a Nebraska freshman record with 35 points while adding eight rebounds and a career-high four steals to power the Huskers to a 90-67 women's basketball win Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Shepard's 35 points came on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor and included 11 free throws. Her performance surpassed Nebraska's previous freshman mark of 34 points by Debra Powell on Feb. 25, 1982 against Notre Dame.
With the victory Nebraska improved to 8-2 on the season, including 8-0 at home, while notching its 19th consecutive home non-conference win. Northern Arizona slipped to 4-6, but the Lumberjacks didn't go without a fight.
