Shields did just about everything he could in order to land himself a spot in the NBA. That included going to a number of summer league teams in order to try and show what he could do.
Unfortunately, while the forward looked dominant at times in the college game, he could never find that level of dominance in the NBA summer leagues. In fact, it became readily apparent his summer league coach wasn’t convinced he was someone who needed a ton of time on the court as schedule went on.
Unable to land that NBA contract, Shields went in much the same direction as former teammate Terran Petteway and will be playing in a European pro league this fall.
