Luis Alvarado had a strong start, striking out nine batters in four-plus innings of work. The senior allowed four hits and one earned run.

The Huskers broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning on Scott Schreiber's two-run double. It was 4-1 on Roskam's single up the middle.

The Highlanders got within 4-3 in the sixth inning, but NU responded with a four-run seventh, highlighted by Roskam's triple.
