But Nebraska true freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez enjoyed a strong outing in Saturday's 9-6 win against Michigan State, according to Husker head coach Scott Frost.
NU quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco apparently was pleased with Martinez as well, even though the California native was just 16-for-37 passing (43.2 percent) for 145 yards. He rushed for 18 yards on seven attempts.
He entered the day completing 66.9 percent of his throws while averaging 59.4 rushing yards.
However, "When we watched the tape and talked to Mario about it, believe it or not Adrian played one of his better games -- just understanding in those situations it isn't going to be a track meet and video-game type deal on a day like that," Frost said.
