Nebraska true freshman Tre Bryant showed a lot of toughness and overall ability in Saturday’s scrimmage.
In fact, Husker running backs coach Reggie Davis says Bryant has "exceeded expectations" through 10 practices of preseason camp.
"He's a very smart young man," the coach said. "He's picking up on things really well."
The 5-foot-11, 201-pound Bryant, of St. Louis, reeled off several sizable gains in Saturday's scrimmage, mostly against lower-unit defenders.
“It was nice to see him in a live situation,” Davis said. “I obviously haven’t seen that since high school. To see him in a college situation was big, and he held up well.
