The Wahoo native is sharing practice repetitions with Nebraska backup quarterback Andrew Bunch as the Huskers (0-6, 0-3 Big Ten) prepare to play Minnesota on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
"It's going really well," quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco said following Wednesday morning's practice. "He's been taking his game tests and all that sort of stuff, so it's not like he's behind from a cognitive standpoint."
If starter Adrian Martinez had to leave Saturday's game, Bunch would be the likely replacement.
"That would be coach (Scott) Frost's decision," Verduzco said. "But just based on the amount of reps they've had, I'd anticipate it would be Andrew.
