In a surprising, midseason turn, sophomore quarterback Noah Vedral was granted immediate eligibility, NU officials confirmed Saturday morning. He is on the team's travel roster and is available, if needed, to play against Northwestern today.
Vedral, a Wahoo native, transferred to NU in January after playing his true freshman year for Nebraska coach Scott Frost at Central Florida.
He and the coaching staff decided in August not to pursue an exception to the typical NCAA transfer rules, which call for players to sit out a season after transferring. After Tristan Gebbia transferred, though, the school decided to pursue a waiver after all.
