Prepping for gameday: Sharpe brings it all to your ears

The moments come in cymbals clashing, drums pounding and the roar of thousands.

"Touchdown Nebraska," followed by ecstatic crowds cheering, is the signature of the Husker Sports Network's Greg Sharpe.

The moments also include quiet, respectful, eye-wetting talk.

“Fourth down coming up and folks, the Huskers are in punt formation with no punter. Nebraska. No punter. Husker Nation has permission to shed a tear,” Sharpe said softly when Nebraska lined up for its first punt of the season and honored the late Sam Foltz.

Matt Davison, former Husker football and basketball player, and now color commentator with Sharpe, added, “It’s going to be hard to hold it together.
