Pavan switches to beach volleyball to make Olympics

A fourth former Nebraska volleyball player will be in the Olympics, as Sarah Pavan will represent Canada in beach volleyball.

Pavan, from Kitchener, Ontario, was a four-time first-team All-American at Nebraska from 2004 to '07. She was a teammate of Jordan Larson on the Huskers’ 2006 national championship team.

Pavan and her partner, Heather Bansley, qualified directly through FIVB Olympic rankings, finishing fifth despite an injury layoff. They finished in the top 10 at every tournament in 2016.

Pavan played on the Canadian national indoor volleyball team for several years. But after Canada failed to qualify for the London Games in 2012 she switched to beach volleyball in hopes of making it to the Olympics.
