Husker golfer Tanner Owen earned the No. 1 seed at the 52nd Nebraska Match Play Championship after firing a round of 66 (-5) in the tournament's second round of Stroke Play Qualifying at The Players Club in Omaha on Tuesday, June 11.
Owen, who produced a two-round total of 135 (-7) in the 36 holes of qualifying, claimed the top seed in the 32-player match play field. He finished four shots ahead of No. 2 seed Cade McCallum. Match play for Owen was scheduled to begin Wednesday morning.
Owen, who will be a senior for the Nebraska men's golf team in 2019-20, tied for 16th as a junior for the Huskers at the 2019 Big Ten Championship.
