Lincoln is in line to host one of the most prestigious volleyball events in the Western Hemisphere in January.
The North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation is considering holding its women’s Olympic qualification tournament Jan. 7-9 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Lancaster County Visitors Promotion Committee on Wednesday recommended giving $275,000 of county lodging tax revenue to the confederation to cover fees to use the arena. The Lancaster County Board plans to consider the award at a staff meeting Thursday morning.
“The fact that we were hand-picked to host something like this says so much about what we’re doing for our community,” said Jeff Maul, executive director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau.
