It's probably the thought of every track athlete the first time they run through the gauntlet known as the decathlon.
Cody Walton felt it.
"Oh, it felt terrible," the Nebraska junior said of the first time he competed in the 10-event cycle. "It didn't go very well like most people's first times.
"But I loved it, so kept with it."
Safe to say, Walton has found his way as a decathlete. The Forest Lake, Minnesota, native is one of the NU track and field team's top medal contenders at the Big Ten Championships, which are set for Friday and Saturday in State College, Pennsylvania.
