Freshman post Jessica Shepard and sophomore guard Natalie Romeo each had great all-around games to lead the Nebraska women’s basketball team to a 73-66 win against No. 17 Michigan State on Sunday in front of 8,338 fans at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Nebraska got its first win against a ranked team this season, after starting 0-4 against teams in the Associated Press Top 25.
Shepard scored a game-high 26 points, and was especially good late as Michigan State star Aerial Powers tried to rally her team. Powers finished with 19 points.
Romeo scored 25 points, including making 5-of-7 three-pointers.
