NU hoops notes: Defense dooms Huskers in loss to Jays

OMAHA – From the outset, Nebraska’s defense faltered in Wednesday’s 83-67 loss at Creighton.

The game began like this rivalry does many times, with Creighton hitting long bombs. Guard Isaiah Zierden had a three-pointer early, part of his 4-of-5 shooting to start the game.

From there, though, the Bluejays did much of their damage inside.

Starting center Geoffrey Groselle and backup post players Toby Hegner and Zach Hanson combined for 30 points on 13-of-24 shooting, as Creighton scored 36 points in the paint.

“It was one of those nights where we didn’t have everybody on the same page, like defensively,” Nebraska coach Tim Miles said.
