Lincoln, Neb. – Despite holding the 24-11 advantage in shots, the Nebraska soccer team fell to San Diego State, 2-1, in the regular season opener for both teams at Hibner Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Huskers led in shots, shots on goal and corner kicks in the first half, but it was the Aztecs who struck first. Denise Castro controlled the offense for SDSU as she was the only Aztec to score. In the first half, Castro found the back of the net in the 27th minute.

In the second half, the Huskers responded in the 73rd minute with a goal of their own.
