NU baseball edges Mavericks at Werner Park

The Huskers overcame a season-high three errors and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the seventh to get past the Mavericks 2-1 in front of 2,526 at Werner Park.

It was a far cry from Tuesday night’s walk in the park against Creighton, when Nebraska (17-10-1) scored 10 runs in the second inning and pounded out a season-high 19 hits in a 14-6 win at Haymarket Park.

Luke Roskam started the decisive inning with a single to right, ending a string of 10 consecutive Huskers retired by Omaha pitching. Two batters later, Jake Schleppenbach’s single to left-center was knocked down by diving UNO outfielder Cole Patterson, allowing Roskam to get to third.
