JD Spielman had one thing on his mind after Arkansas State’s Blaise Taylor took an NU punt 63 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
“After I saw their punt returner take it to the end zone, I remember looking over at their sideline and they were all jumping up and down and super-excited,” Spielman said. “And I remember thinking in my mind, I can’t wait to shut that down.”
Spielman did just that, zipping 99 untouched yards for a kickoff return touchdown on the first touch of his college career.
The redshirt freshman from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, said last week he wanted to be something special on kick returns.
