The call was simple, as Brandon Reilly explains it. Nebraska was 30 yards from a win, had no timeouts and little time Saturday.
Everyone run vertical.
Reilly had already taken the ball away from a Michigan State defender earlier on a jump ball on a 35-yard reception. So it made sense Husker quarterback Tommy Armstrong would look his way again, especially since Alonzo Moore and Jordan Westerkamp had both left with injuries on plays just before.
“A lot of it just man-to-man and I kind of had a feeling Tommy would come my way and I saw the ball and had to make a little adjustment,” Reilly said.
