Nebraska senior pitcher Matt Waldron was the first Husker player taken in the 2019 MLB draft. He went in the 18th round as the 550th player taken. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.
Waldron was Nebraska’s best pitcher this season in terms of ERA. He finished the season with a 3.05 ERA, striking out 93 batters, and giving up only 7 free bases over 100 1⁄3 innings of works.
He was a joy to watch, especially in his last game against Oklahoma State, where he went 7.2 innings and set a career high with 11 strike outs.
