Nebraska on cusp of bowl eligibility after cruising past Rutgers

Nebraska was – finally -- able to breathe easy in the final quarter Saturday.

For just the second time this season, the Cornhuskers led the entire fourth quarter by double-digits against a Power 5 team. They never once trailed in the convincing 31-14 win over Rutgers.

Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. helped Nebraska sprint out to a 21-0 lead before mistakes kept the game relatively close. In the second and third quarters, he threw three interceptions over four drives – and Rutgers capitalized. The Scarlet Knights scored a pair of touchdowns off those turnovers to cut the lead to 21-14.
