On another cold, windy, lousy night for baseball in Lincoln, the Nebraska baseball team lost to Nebraska-Omaha for the first time since 1997 as the Mavs never trailed in an 8-7 win.

Nebraska’s 19th loss of the season looked a lot like many of the previous 18.

The Huskers’ beleaguered pitching staff, which went through seven arms Tuesday, walked nine batters, hit five more and threw a wild pitch that led to a run. It reached such a point midway through the game that Nolan Hakel, a junior outfielder from Lincoln Pius X who had played in just five games all season, came on for an inning and a third of work.
