Nebraska did everything right...sort of. The first half could not have gone much better. Dawson Garcia, the leading scorer for the Gophers, played only 5 minutes due to spraining his ankle. He scored zero points in those five minutes. Nebraska outrebounded their opponent, which is crucial on the road. They outshot their opponent, a recipe for success. They led by 15 points at the half, so things were on the up and up.
Then the 2nd half had to happen. Here came the Nebrasketball of old. The “can’t put teams away” team. Multiple turnovers and scoring droughts lasting well over 3 minutes meant plenty of empty possessions.
