Nebraska men record program's best finish at the Big Ten tournament

The Husker men's golf team rewrote the program history books at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday in Philadelphia.

NU finished fifth place at the tournament, shooting a team score of 886, which was good for the highest finish in program history. The previous highest finish was ninth in 2013.

Tanner Owen and Jay Cottam tied for 16th place at the tournament, shooting 11-over-par on the weekend. Cottam shot a final-round 71, while Owen shot 72. Illinois won the tournament, firing a team sore of 868.

"Preparation, discipline and execution was our goal the entire year,” first-year NU coach Mark Hankins said.
