This one started seemingly like every other Husker home game. Juwan Gary and Brice Williams started the game off leading Nebraska, scoring the first 11 Husker points. Rutgers pounded the offensive glass early, as they had 4 offensive rebounds in the opening 3 minutes. NBA lottery picks Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey started to make their imprint, as the duo kept Rutgers in the contest early. Rutgers would hit 5 straight shots at the midway point of the half, giving them their first lead at 31-30. Rutgers shot the ball well and started to get hot from deep as the half progressed.
