On Sunday morning the Nebraska football coaching staff released a depth chart. The biggest news? Adrian Martinez is going to be the starting quarterback for Nebraska’s season opener against Akron.
The last time Nebraska had a quarterback battle come this close to the first game was probably Martinez and Zac Lee. That might have been a little more gamesmanship by Bo Pelini than anything.
Before that, I remember a quarterback battle between Eric Crouch and Bobby Newcombe. I think Newcombe started the season at quarterback and then at some point Eric Crouch took over and played okay for the rest of his career.
