LINCOLN, NE --The Nebraska men's basketball team got a 20-point showing from the bench, but fell 76-50 to the Illinois Fighting Illini at home Tuesday.
The Cornhuskers (9-8, 2-4) had two players score in double figures, led by Sam Griesel, who had 12 points and six rebounds. Wilhelm Breidenbach added 11 points off of the bench and Derrick Walker added five points.
How It Happened
Nebraska struggled out of the gate, falling behind 34-23 heading into halftime.
Illinois kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 55-35 advantage before Nebraska went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Breidenbach's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 55-43 with 9:09 to go in the contest.
