It was a tale of two defenses.
On a cold February Friday night more akin to Lincoln, Nebraska than Lafayette, Louisiana, two aces met and were putting on a show. One however, couldn’t count on his defense to bail him out as regularly as the other. Louisiana committed 4 errors on the night, and while not all 4 led to runs, they all led to Ragin’ Cajuns’s starting pitcher and preseason Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year Chase Morgan having to pitch under high stress in nearly every inning.
Nebraska’s defense however, continued its streak of not committing an error yet this young season.
