Mims powers Washington State past Seminoles in opening round

Junior Taylor Mims had a monster game in lead Washington State to a 34-32, 25-14, 23-25, 25-13 victory over Florida State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at the Devaney Sports Center.

Mims, an All-Pac 12 performer had a career-high 28 kills, 22 digs and six blocks. Taryn Knuth led Florida State (18-11) with 16 kills.

The Cougars (18-15) advance to the second round for the second straight year, and will await the winner of Nebraska-Stony Brook.
