Freshman point guard Glynn Watson hasn’t started a game this season, and won’t start Nebraska’s basketball game Sunday against Samford, either, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Yet Watson is averaging 20.5 minutes per game, which is fifth-most on the team. So when Nebraska coach Tim Miles says Watson is getting starter’s minutes, he’s technically right.
For the crowd who believes Watson, coming off a career-high 17 points in Nebraska’s 70-67 come-from-behind victory against Rhode Island, is deserving of a starting role, Miles hears you, too.
“Will he never start? That’s not necessarily a deal,” Miles said Friday.
