Michigan women’s basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico was nervous about playing Nebraska on Sunday, even though the Wolverines are near the top of the Big Ten Conference standings, and the Huskers are not.
You can understand why, though. Michigan had lost five straight games against Nebraska. Barnes Arico had never beaten the Huskers in her first four seasons.
Then she had the memory of last season, when Nebraska’s Jessica Shepard scored 35 points and had 20 rebounds when the Huskers beat Michigan by 12 points.
But Sunday Michigan had its normal good offense going while also making sure Shepard didn’t beat the Wolverines again in a 84-51 victory at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
