Nebraska men's golfer Branden Meyer captured an eighth-place finish at the Desert Amateur in Chandler, Ariz., Dec. 7-9.
Meyer, a Husker senior from Gilbert, Ariz., closed the 54-hole tournament with a three-round score of 210 (-6), just four strokes back of individual champion Mahanth Chirravuri (206). Meyer closed the tournament with a 68 (-4) on Wednesday, after opening the three-day event with a 69 (-3) on Monday. Meyer managed a second-round 73 on Tuesday at the Whirlwind Golf Club.
Meyer was joined in the 109-player field by Husker teammate Will Harding. The freshman from Prairie Village, Kan.
