Men's basketball: Huskers blow by Mississippi Valley State

Newcomers Andrew White and Jack McVeigh combined to shoot 8-for-10 from long distance and score 34 points to lead Nebraska to a 97-51 win against Mississippi Valley State in the season opener Saturday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

White, a junior transfer from Kansas, led the Huskers with 18 points and a pair of blocked shots. He connected on three-pointers to start the Huskers' scoring each half, and scored NU’s first eight points after intermission.

McVeigh finished with 16 points, including 4-for-4 from distance. The freshman from Australia scored went on his own 10-2 run in the first half on two three-pointers and four free throws.
