Three seniors and two juniors are tasked with leading Nebraska this fall.
Senior safety Joshua Kalu, linebacker Chris Weber and fullback Luke McNitt join junior quarterback Tanner Lee and left guard Jerald Foster as team captains, head coach Mike Riley announced Saturday evening.
The announcement came just before NU’s Boneyard Bash, an event that includes the Cornhuskers practicing in front of student season-ticket holders at Memorial Stadium.
The players were selected by a team-wide vote, according to a school news release.
Lee’s rise from running the scout team during his transfer year to captain was expected, but only because he has universally impressed coaches and teammates.
