Sure, Nebraska is 0-3 for the first time since 1945, and a 56-10 thumping at the hands of Michigan was ... well, ugly.
That didn't stop some from raising their eyebrows when Purdue opened as a 3½-point road favorite over the Huskers. After all, this is a 1-3 Purdue team that lost Eastern Michigan.
Many were not surprised by the spread. That includes Josh Nagel, a senior analyst for SportsLine in Nevada.
"They're both struggling right now, but I think it comes down to the (power) ratings that have been adjusted based on what we've seen so far," Nagel said this week.
