Falling is simply a part of gymnastics.
Nebraska senior Jennie Laeng knows that first-hand.
"I've fallen a lot in this sport," Laeng said. "It was just a freak thing. I just got back up and tried to block everything out and it was fine."
The "freak thing" Laeng was referring to happened during the first day of last season's NCAA Championships. Laeng, competing on the uneven bars, landed awkwardly on her head and left the Fort Worth (Texas) Convention Center on a backboard.
After spending a few hours in a hospital, she returned to the team hotel with a sprained neck and a "bad" concussion, the worst result of the fall.
