Knighten selected in NPF Draft, will reunite with two ex-Husker teammates

MJ Knighten's collegiate softball career is winding down. However, her playing days are far from over.

Knighten, Nebraska's starting third baseman, was selected 25th overall in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft by the Scrap Yard Dawgs. A first-team All-American in 2016, Knighten was the second-to-last selection in Monday's draft.

"I was honestly speechless," Knighten said in a news release. "Even though I knew it could happen, I was still in shock."

The Scrap Yard Dawgs, a Houston-based franchise, are becoming a popular landing spot for those who donned Husker red.

It was a year ago when the Dawgs, then an expansion team, drafted center fielder and two-time All-American Kiki Stokes with the sixth overall pick.
