Nebraska freshman Chad Red won four consolation matches before falling in the consolation semifinals during the USA Wrestling Freestyle Junior World Team Trials on Friday at the Devaney Sports Center.
Red was one of four current Huskers competing in the event. After losing his first-round match at 66 kilograms (145 pounds), Red earned decision victories of 10-0, 8-6, 4-3 and 20-10 to reach the consolation finals. There, he lost to Iowa State's Kanen Storr 10-0.
NU's Collin Purinton went 1-2 at 66 kg, and Taylor Venz (84 kg/185 pounds) and Eric Schultz (96 kg/211 pounds) each went 0-2 in their respective weight classes.
