A national volleyball publication has named Nebraska coach John Cook its coach of the year for the 2018 college season.
VolleyballMag.com released its awards on Wednesday, and named Cook coach of the year. Cook helped lead the Huskers to the national championship match earlier this month; the Huskers lost to Stanford in five sets.
After losing six matches during the regular season, Nebraska entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed but came within a few points of repeating as national champions. In the second and third weeks of the NCAA Tournament, Nebraska defeated 10th-seeded Kentucky, 15th-seeded Oregon and third-seeded Illinois to reach the championship match.
