On April 6, 2013, the world was introduced to a seven-year-old boy battling brain cancer. He appeared in the center of the behemoths that make up the Nebraska football team. He stood beside quarterback Taylor Martinez, who took the snap from center, then handed off to to the little boy.
69 yards and a touchdown later, Jack Hoffman entered the hearts of everyone around the world. It was clear Hoffman had stolen the show.
It was an event that was imitated by many other athletic departments.
Jack’s cancer had led to the Hoffman family starting the Team Jack Foundation, whose cause is finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer.
