It will be a few years before we know if Kalynn Meyer becomes the next high school athlete from the state of Nebraska that becomes a great college volleyball player when they focus on that sport in college.
Several times before Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook has relished the chance to develop multi-sport athletes from Nebraska into good volleyball players -- Christina Houghtelling, Laura Pilakowski, Hayley Thramer, Alicia Ostrander and others -- and he’ll take that chance again with Meyer, the three-sport star from Superior, a town of about 2,000 residents near the Kansas border.
The 6-foot-3 Meyer was chosen as the high school athlete of the year as both a sophomore and junior.
