Every wide receiver on Nebraska’s roster not named JD Spielman is competing to earn playing time when the regular season rolls around.
Spielman, whose career tallies through two seasons of 121 catches and 1,648 yards dwarfs the rest of the group combined, is in a different place completely.
“I’m challenging him to be the best in the country,” offensive coordinator Troy Walters said Monday. “That’s the way he’s got to practice and not to have any letdowns. A lot of times when you’ve been there and you’ve done that and you have the stats and the accolades that he has, it’s easy to let down.
