Huskers squander chances against Iowa to drop first Big Ten Tournament game

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Nebraska squandered several scoring chances Friday afternoon against Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament and now finds itself in survival mode.

Despite recording 12 hits against the Hawkeyes, the Huskers were shut out 2-0 at Bart Kaufman Field and stranded 14 runners on base.

Nebraska struggled to find the clutch hit when it was needed as every hit was a single and seven came with two outs, ultimately amounting to nothing.

Iowa used a solo home run in the third and added insurance the fifth to give Hawkeye starting pitcher Ryan Erickson more than enough run support and send Nebraska to the elimination game tonight against Maryland at approximately 7:30 p.
