Through four innings, the #15 Nebraska Cornhuskers found themselves in a 2-1 battle with the #4 UCLA Bruins. Kylee Magee, the Arizona transfer who started the season as the team’s #2 starter, but struggled in almost every appearance, was brought in and, after starting out 3-0 managed to get the Huskers out of a jam with only a sacrifice fly RBI.
Then the roof caved in.
UCLA scored 2 runs in the next inning - which could've been much worse - and then 5 in the bottom of the 6th for a 9-1 run-rule victory which had to be some ice water in the face of a team for whom six of their eight victories had come by the run-rule, the only exceptions being a 7-1 win over #5 Tennessee and the earlier victory over Baylor.
