One of the fun things about women’s softball is that, unlike baseball which succumbed to the designated hitter years ago, pitchers can help themselves at the plate. And with hitting pitchers like Jordy Bahl, Hannah Camenzind and Emmerson Cope of the Nebraska Cornhuskers? They often do.
Today, after cruising through 3 2⁄3 innings after allowing a a run in the first, Camenzind came to the plate with the bags packed, two down and a slim 2-run lead.
After running the count to a hitter-friendly 2-1, she ripped a shot past Gopher right fielder Nani Valencia into the corner.
