Nebraska Cornhuskers fans went on high alert when Northern Iowa took a 1-0 lead after an inning on the power of a Skyler Benesh double to start the game.
Okay, I’m making that up.
The overriding feeling was it just a matter of time before Husker bats would again erupt on an overmatched opponent and those feelings proved correct in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Abbie Squier set the tone by launching a blast to left field whose beautiful path was rudely cut short when the ball crashed into the middle of the scoreboard on the right side under the Ameritas logo to give Nebraska a 2-1 lead.
