In yesterday’s column sharing the news Ava Kuszak and Jordy Bahl had received the B1G Co-Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively, I couldn’t resist a little jab at the conference for not awarding both of them the recognition outright. Well, whatever their reason, they each won another award today.
Kuszak and Bahl were just announced as the recipients of Softball America’s Star of the Week and the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors respectively for their performance at the Troy Cox Classic last weekend in Las Cruces, NM.

Transferring from Wisconsin after a breakout season in Madison in 2024, Kuszak earned the shortstop job, the leadoff spot in the order and, with those, some huge cleats to fill, specifically, those of Billie Andrews who finished her career with her name sprinkled all over the Nebraska softball record book.
