The ninth-ranked Nebraska wrestling team scored a pair of season-opening victories over in-state foes as part of the Nebraska Duals on Thursday night. The event featured the Huskers, Chadron State and second-ranked UNK.
The Big Red first grappled with Chadron State, winning 31-9. To start the night, freshman Jeremiah Reno (125) battled Quade Smith, scoring a reversal and an escape, but was pinned in the third period. Alex Thomsen (133) recorded a major decision before Daniel Monahan (141) needed an extra period but came away with a 7-5 victory. At 149, Ridge Lovett defeated Chance Bockenstedt by technical fall, and Jevon Parrish (157) triumphed over Dean Neff 10-1.
