Teddy Owens, the affable, energetic director of basketball operations for the Nebraska men’s basketball team, has more reason than most to be excited about the Huskers’ Saturday game against Kansas in venerable Allen Fieldhouse.
While his name may not be well-known among Husker hoops fans, Owens’ namesake is a legend in a place dripping in history.
Ted Owens coached at Kansas for 19 seasons — the second-longest tenure of any coach at the school behind the man whose name is on the building.
And Saturday, Teddy gets to hang out with his father before and after trying to help the Huskers pull an upset.
